Keeps getting better and better. BEST Brussels sprouts in town!

Nothing but raving reviews for this place. We live nearby and have frequented this place since it opened. We enjoy the happy hour specials (great drinks by the bartenders) & terrace seating when weather is nice. Service is attentive & friendly, environment is trendy yet comfortable with great music to set a relaxing ambiance. But the best part about this place is its food, hands down. Our favorites: the brussel sprouts are AMAZING, as are the mussels, the fire roasted peppers, the Korean chicken wings, the burger, the soups, and the peanut butter mousse pie!

This seemed very trendy, which is odd for being in a strip mall The blueberry pomegranate ice cream and the vegetarian tacos were amazing! I plan to be back soon for more! Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse Pie was too rich

Good food and I love Bill Roberts restaurants. One thing about his places are his awesome unusual breads. This place does serve any bread prior to a meal and I think that is a miss. It is also very pricey for a neighborhood establishment. The food is very good.

The new addition to the local food scene is ML. It's taking on the common elements of recently open places with local ingredients and sustainable meats and seafoods. Those of us interested in those attractions and finding more and more of these restaurants and chefs paying attention to it. Inside you'll find a nice modern decor, with a patio that may redefine other patios someday, I hope. Their outdoor seating has the intimacy and fresh air you seek while being separated from the foot and car traffic that is literally on the other side of the planted shrubs. They have executed a beautiful patio where you are almost in the parking lot without knowing it. Onto what I really came here for, the food. Starting with the Korean Fried Chicken with cucumbers. I'm a sucker for Asian food and particularly Korean flavors. These boneless chicken strips encase the flavors a traditional Korean BBQ. The sauce is familiar to one while find on other Korean BBQ flavors and then have the crunch from the fried batter. It's a yummy start. I am tempted to three orders of these to make it my entree. In the spirit of trying other dishes and not just eat that chicken, I moved onto the Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos with Mango Salsa and Black Bean Quinoa. I'm not sure if you'll leave anything on this plate except for the banana leaf maybe. The fish is perfectly cooked, soft, tender, and juicy. The mango salsa and pickled vegetables on top give it a nice pop and sweet versus tangy. I would have wished the fish to be seasoned a bit more, it took on a slight fishy flavor. In one way I appreciate it since you want to taste the fish, but a bit more seasoning would heighten it. The compliment of the black bean quinoa is a good matchup. The fish being very juicy and the quinoa being slightly on the dryer side helps to soak up any juices that drip out. I promise you will not leave anything on the plate when you order the Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse Pie. I may have licked the plate when no one was looking. I'm sure I'm on their security cameras doing the dirty deed. This was about sharp rich flavors in contrast to texture. The richness of the chocolate and the peanut butter mousse was just delicious in combination. It's the texture here that will also make you say mmmm. The harder chocolate on top that you will find yourself snapping through with the creaminess of the mousse now makes me say mmmmm. Are all their desserts this good? I can't wait to try more food and desserts here...

It may be in a strip mall, but don't let that deceive you. From the moment you walk in, it has great atmosphere and a nice sized bar. I love the chalkboard, the open kitchen and I can't believe I am mentioning this, but yes the touches such as you don't have to touch the bathroom door,(it is automatic with a swoosh of your hand) and why don't more restrooms have this feature? The staff is very inviting, they are wonderful! They truly care if you are enjoying your libation, glass of wine or how your dinner is prepared. Speaking of the food, it is delicious and consistent. I really can't find anything to complain about at Cafe ML. Their tacos's are excellent, I love the beautiful hummus plate. The pork is outstanding. I can't say I have ever had anything bad here. The only thing perhaps lacking is meat on the specials and the beans and rice served with the taco's. Cafe ML is one of my favorites hands down and they truly care.

Such a good restaurant! This is just what the Birmingham area needs! My party of 6 went at 5pm and didn't have to wait at all. By the time we left, there was a long line! It was worth it to go early. I ordered the scallops, which were good but slightly under cooked. They took them back to cook a little longer and they came out great! My brothers ordered the tacos. They loved them, however, the portions are a little smaller so for growing teenage boys, they were still hungry. We ordered the Brussels sprouts and they were really good. The dessert was excellent as well. Their menu is amazing.

Great ambiance, great service, great playlist, and overall good experience. I highly recommend the butternut squash soup and the mussels. Outdoor patio seating is available that is closed in with heating + Overall the menu would be appealing to anyone, with a wide array of options-largely dominated by American fare with a twist. Good price points, and interesting cocktail selection. Will be back. It's a 4.5 star place---but really what does the star rating really mean anymore? This place won't disappoint, I wish I would've tried it sooner.

We visited this restaurant a few months back, and for one that has to overcome the automatic stigma of OH GOD, IT'S IN A STRIP MALL?!? it's incredibly good! The service was right on point, and the atmosphere was really quite nice, considering their open-air wall faces 15 Mile/Maple (just east of Lahser). The food was really wonderful, and my two very picky food-snob companions were very pleased with everything, as was I. I'm definitely planning a visit back very soon!

Went here on a weekday evening in December. Place was crowded, but not packed. Very interesting menu. We got the specials (some sort of beef / rice stir fry and arctic char, which is a salmon-like fish). Both were ok, but nothing special, and a bit overpriced (but probably normal for this area of town). We also got the brussel sprouts as an appetizer, which our server recommended. They were indeed excellent (totally creative way to prepare and cook them), and we also got some reasonably priced glasses of wine. Perhaps this place would earn 4 starts if we had chosen our dinner dishes differently? Service was good, and ambience was a bit on the noisy (festive?) side.

Went to cafe ml last night and had a fabulous experience. We ordered the Korean fried chicken app and it was really delicious!!! I ordered the lamb with vegetable risotto and crumbled feta, it was one of the best lamb dishes I've had. The lamb was cooked perfectly (mid rare) and the risotto was so rich and creamy that I couldn't stop going back for it. My boyfriend ordered the ml burger and it was very juicy char broiled and the fries were nice and crispy...perfectly seasoned dish! I also asked for a jalapeño margarita and the bartender happily made it even though it wasn't on the menu! It was very tasty! Excellent food and service! Definitely recommend!

My husband & just ate here tonight for dinner and loved it! Food: I got the ML burger (medium) and it was to die for! I also got the brussel sprouts and they were really good too. My husband got the pork chop dinner, and it was just okay - good, but nothing special. Service: no complaints. Waitress was great & on top of things. Also, we sat "outside" under a heater and it was comfortable. I've read concerns on yelp before about seating, but we had no problems. Overall, we recommend Cafe ML and can't wait to go back!

CAFE ML Bloomfield Twn. I had the opportunity to eat at ML this weekend. I was very impressed overall. High quality food with an outstanding choice of foods to choose from. The services was outstanding both at the bar and at the tables. Overall an excellent experience. Even though it is in a very high end strip mall when you entered you were taken away by the place. Next to City of Birmingham but close. It is a very boutique small type of neighborhood restaurant that does it all right, excellent job. Will be eating there more and often. Richard Rollins

WOW. This is honestly one of THE BEST dining experiences in our 2 years in Michigan. Food is absolutely spot on. Gourmet food with attention to detail in all aspects. The servie was wonderful as well. All around perfect. Walked right in on a Sunday night with no wait. I had the smoked salmon salad. She had the Scallop special, but with a twist. They sold out of the original scallop special and offered us a different type of seafood prepared the same way. Have not ever seen that offered. Was a big plus and added to the thumbs up for this place. We shared the guacamole with lobster...amazing! Will most definitely be back.

Amazing across the board !! The restaurant is zen and trendy, you forget your at Maple & Lasher (hence Cafe ML). Fabulous location !! but when they say its a 2 hour wait, it really is a full 2 hours. The seating is cool, theres high booths that are open on both sides, so you don't feel smushed in. There's porch seating also !! and a bar - which i loved. So its pretty good for being alone, 2 ppl,4 or more. Larger party youll def have to wait longer. FOOD CRIPSY BRUSSEL SPROUTS - this spot crushes it !! they are not overly or if even deep fried, BIG PLUS !! and they are made with SIRACHA - yum yum spicy!! Hummus ML - also fabulous, has a little flare, comes with a solid mix of veggies, you can tell its all REALLY FRESH !! I love that its locally sourced food, reason enough to eat there !! the menu compliments vegan and gluten free people !! LOVE that !! Singapore Street Noodles with Chicken, super fabulous !! i'd go back n get this over and over again!!

Sooo loud! Very hard to have a conversation in this restaurant - not great for an intimate dinner and dinner for catching up with old friends. Best thing on the menu is the Brussel Sprouts, I could just eat these and be very satisfied. Getting in can be hard on a Friday or Saturday, because they don't take reservations and the seating list seems to be at the whim of the hostess rather than first come first serve. Wish they were open for lunch, I would probably frequent more often if they were.

The menu seems a little funky when you sit down, but after a few minutes you start to "get it". This is not your father's cozy cafe! This is Hipster City, featuring unique, off the beaten path entrees and interesting sides. ML is almost a tour d'force of the world, with tasty dishes from all around the globe! Understand that I am a senior citizen and was accompanied by four of my college frat brothers - who are not youngsters either. The ambiance and multi-faceted menu was new and different to all five of us. Since old guys can say and do practically anything without remorse or reticence, we all cracked jokes and were enthusiastically entertaining the waitress, the maître d' and other staff - as we continued to entertain one another! But, I digress. You can start off your adventure with some tasty soup. Miso (Japan) is smooth and filled with Shitakes and Tofu. An unusual soup d'jour is also available. A variety of salads take you from Upper Michigan to the Middle East. Or, China could be your destination with a large, entree-sized salad. The delicious Burgers come in beef, lamb and veggie. I tried the Lamburger (that's fun to say, as well as to eat!). An Italian-sounding favorite, Turkey Bolgnese, even comes with Gluten-free pasta upon request! Singapore Street Noodles, Jerk Shrimp, and a variety of tacos help round out your world tour. Of course, no hipster meal would ever be complete without a large selection of beer, wine and mixed drinks. The service was always greeted with a smile, from the moment of entry, through the meal, to the moment of sad departure. I'll be back once I get my passport renewed!

I'm a fan of most of the Roberts restaurants and this is no exception. The location is convenient, service is attentive and food is consistently good. Menu highlights include the steak tartare and buffalo style deviled eggs with blue cheese. They post daily specials on their website - frequently a fresh fish or scallop option which rarely disappoint.

Cafe ML is very well suited to its local demographic. It's trendy without being threateningly hip, it gives that "green" or "conscious" vibe, and it's upscale. Given that context, I think it's a pretty good restaurant. The veggie burger is strikingly similar to Townhouse's, but if you order it fixed up like the meat burger (truffle cheese and truffle aioli - maybe truffle will get old one day, but not anytime soon), it is way better. The fries are nothing special. The veggie tacos were fine, but even with the side of quinoa, I don't think they suffice as meal. It's one of those things where you think: why am I spending $16 on 3 tofu tacos with a side of quinoa. The ml burger, the jerk shrimp, and the filet mignon tacos all got rave reviews. The guacamole is just guacamole which is fine, but guacamole is what it is ($10). The korean chicken wings got good reviews, as did the mussels (which were probably the table's favorite item all night). The buffalo mozzarella salad is a caprese, with good tomatoes and some sweet (papaya?) seeds. The peanut butter/chocolate dessert seemed a bit invertebrate to me, but it was tasty. The beer list was decent, with a lot of local draft and bottle options The cocktail list was ok, and there were good chardonays and pinot noirs. Service was very efficient, though a bit hurried, I thought. And the service at the bar was a bit unfriendly and unpleasant. The bathroom was small and clean. I'd come back for a nice dinner in the future, but it is a bit spendy for what you get, and the parking lot (full of spaces, but shared with Plum Market, et. al.) is a cluster.

I grew up around this area, and I've been to ML the last few times I've been in town. It's nice to finally see a neighborhood spot, that isn't a pizza place, or a chain restaurant. I love the Brussels sprouts , and their burgers are great. Definitely will be back !

We are the frequent repeater of Cafe ML and cannot love it more. Food is extremely delicious and staff are very friendly and professional. Manager always and sincerely greet customers, we can tell, as much time as she could afford. My family and close friends have been a big fan of Beverly Hills Grill. Both are great place to go, only we have recently moved to east side of down state, wish they could open another one on east side.

I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Cafe ML, it's so close to home and as part of the Roberts Restaurant group, it promised to be a real treat. The family of restaurants includes Beverly Hills Grill and Streetside Seafood, as well as Roadside B&G. Glowing amber light, swanky seating featuring lots of wood and leather, industrial fixtures and gleaming mini-garage doors opening up to a beautiful private patio lend to the stylish and warm vibe at ML. The crisp white dress shirt and Tiffany blue woven tie donned by all staff reminds you that there will be top-notch service despite the relaxed energy vibrating within the space. As far as the menu - creative, healthy and exciting are the words that come to mind. Sustainable seafood sourcing and humanely handled poultry, beef and pork are a huge plus. The fillet tacos (served medium and piled high with tangy pickled onion, roasted tomato salsa, cojita and Mexican crema) stand out as my favorite item thus far, while the Jerk shrimp (presented on a bed of coconut rice, topped with pineapple Mango salsa and accompanied by a fresh bruleed banana) is a close second. The featured Rainbow trout was stellar, and you can plan on seeing some preparation of trout almost daily. We chose to order the smashed guacamole as an accoutrement to our fillet tacos, and what a fab choice that turned out to be. I imagine it would pair just as nicely with the Mahi tacos. Lobster is an available add-on to your guacamole! I quite liked the Cuban burger, loaded with Serrano ham, pickles and a very umami mustard sauce. We chose the flax bun and I suggest you do too. Your Cuban will arrive pressed, in true Cubano style. As I assumed, the service was phenom, the staff has been tasting all the menu items so they know what's up. I am more than happy with my dining experience at ML, thrilled about the location, and truly excited to continue journeying through the menu.

Last Sunday night, after attending happy hour at a restaurant in downtown Birmingham, a friend of mine and I decided to pop over to Cafe ML. She had tried it once before, and had been raving about a drink she had at their bar! We walked in, and I was immediately impressed with the ambiance. The place was dimly lit, and had an interesting architecture. High booths were placed along the center of the restaurant, forming an interesting division between the bar and formal seating areas. Bar Scene/Drinks: We sat at the bar, and were immediately greeted by a friendly bartender. After browsing the martini menu, I decided to get a little creative. I asked the bartender to create a martini that he thought I would like. My only instructions were, "Not too sweet, and make sure it has a nice kick to it!" Within 5 minutes, I had in front of me one of the best martinis I've ever tried! In true bartender style, he remained tight-lipped as to his exact recipe. All I could get out of him was that he started with a cucumber vodka. Food: Since we had just sampled a few appetizers at happy hr elsewhere, I decided to eat light. I ordered the mussels, which were made with an interesting blend of green tea, lemongrass, and coconut milk. They were DELICIOUS! My friend ordered the filet mignon tacos, and thoroughly enjoyed those also. Overall it was a great experience! My only slight gripe would be that I would like to see a few more menu options (although I will give them credit for having a wide variety of food on such a small menu). Sidenote: They have a heated outdoor patio which we didn't get to enjoy! I plan to take advantage of it next time.

We have lived in the Maple-Lahser neighborhood for 25 years, and the advent of Cafe ML is just what we have been waiting for: creative and mostly tasty cuisine, in a warm and inviting atmosphere, brought to us by a staff that is friendly and warm, but always fully professional. I'm sorry it has taken me this long to Yelp ML, but after 4 or 5 visits, we have had the chance to take the measure of the place. The good: the ML burger is outstanding. The tacos, available in meat or veggie, are first-rate. Try the crispy Brussels sprouts for a fresh take on this often-dissed veggie. And once you have overcome your unreasonable aversion to the little cabbages, try ML's Blistered Otto Farms Chicken, which comes with farro and Gala apple, topped with maple "drippings". And Brussels Sprouts. My co- diner enjoyed the Skuna Bay salmon, attractively served with some unusual accompaniments: they included cannelloni beans and (ready for this?) kale pesto. Almost enough to make one forgive the sudden proliferation of kale on area menus. In addition, many off-menU specials add to the interesting fare. On the negative side , there have been problems with consistency in quality and preparation. A burger ordered medium on one visit came too rare, and when sent back, arrived over -done . We have been told that management is aware of, and working on, the consistency issue. All told, our visits to Cafe ML have left us eager to return, to try those items that beckoned to us on previous visits, but we didn't get the chance to try. I'd say that paints a picture of a successful dining venue. Prices are not inexpensive, but well within the expected range for a bistro of this caliber. Try it - you 'll like it.

Great neighborhood restaurant in Bloomfield. Nice décor. I really liked the Brussels Sprouts and Otto Farm chicken. The burgers are really good as well. Smaller restaurant, gets a little noisy sometimes. But still really enjoyed dining there.

This place does not live up to the hype. We went here a few months back. The food was too expensive and portions weren't big. I had the spicy fish tacos and that's exactly what they were! My mouth was on fire the whole night and I wouldn't have even known I was eating fish since all I could taste were the spices!! Don't plan on coming back here

Four stars is probably a bit high for ML, but I couldn't figure out how to do 3.5, so there you go. I usually think Bill Roberts restaurants are just "meh", and kind of overrated. And I nearly walked out of ML when I noticed that the large chalk board near the entrance described a fish that was on special as (and I'm not making this up) "craft raised", but I'm glad I stayed. ML is an attractive restaurant with a vibrant bar and better than average food. The menu is creative without reaching beyond the capabilities of the kitchen. The staff was wonderful; casual but attentive, which is what this goes with this concept. One suggestion, and I almost hate to say this because frankly the item was good, but, I think we need to exile brussel sprouts to the land of "how's everything tasting", and stacking food on top of itself (which ML does a little bit). It's a good app, but it's been overdone; and this isn't Omaha circa 1993, you don't need to balance the meat on top of the starch on top of the veggies . . .

I heard about Cafe ML through word of mouth before it opened, and actually came here the first Saturday it was open. We liked ML so much we came here the next two Saturday's in a row. What I love the most are the Gluten free options, of which there are not that many offerings in the metro Detroit area. I really enjoy the outdoor seating, the overhead heaters keep you nice and toasty. The Buffalo Mozzarella starter is excellent. I adore the Kale Salad with manchego cheese, almonds, ham and a lemony vinagrette. Just thinking about that salad makes my mouth water. I avoid carbs and had the ML burger Go Green style with lettuce only. Like BHG, they do not take reservations. The parking lot can get crazy, its extremely busy. Service was attentive. I plan to be a regular at ML Cafe. Currently open for dinner only, lunch to be offered eventually.

I really like Cafe ML, it's close to home, I like their small plates, a little pricey to go with the fam, but I like it for drinks/apps/dinner with friends. I have been twice, the last visit with my mom. We split the Crispy Brussel Sprouts (w/sriracha) and the Deviled Eggs (with bleu cheese)...while they tasted might fine in the restaurant my stomach was in turmoil over combining those selections (so maybe try on separate visits). They were both awesome. We split the Fish Tacos, which were good too and we split the Peanut Butter Chocolate Mouse Pie (which is OMG AWESOME-did wish it had a few more caramelized bananas). On a previous visit had the hummous (which is a little different than your usual hommous-but yummy) and guacamole.

Unimpressed. I've been here twice now and the food is not great. I got the Singapore noodles and they were SO bland. I could have made a better dinner for myself at home. The second time I went I got the veggie tacos (based on the waitress' recommendation) and they were awful. The side of quinoa was extremely bland. On a lighter note, the peanut butter dessert was really good.

My fiance and I stopped into Cafe ML because she wanted to take me somewhere as a surprise. Having never been there but hearing good things, she figured it fit my tastes. We waited for about 45 minutes for a table and the bar was packed. After being seated, our waiter outlined the specials. He was very friendly and asked what we like to eat so he could make recommendations. They change their menu on a seasonal basis so we had some fall specials. We ordered 2 small plates and one entree to share as well as a dessert to share. The serving sizes are notably small, especially with my big Midwestern appetite. However, each dish was very good, with the dessert being outstanding. We had the salted caramel pot de creme, with popcorn on top. Oh snap I wish I had some right now. The waiter said we were adventurous eaters and actually brought out the manager to talk with us regarding how we enjoyed the meal. She talked to us for over 15 minutes about restaurants and places we liked. Overall, this was a great meal with fantastic service. The only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars is the price to serving size ratio.

We eagerly awaited the opening of Cafe ML. A few bugs need to be worked out, but so far we are thrilled. Very noisy inside. When the patio opens, there will be seating for apx. 100 more people, so, hopefully not so noisy. Food prep. is awesome, excellent quality. If you don't mind the noise and wait (no reservations), the food is worth it. Desert is weak.

Went to Cafe ML Friday evening to sit out on their patio for dinner. We arrived around 7p and were told we'd have about a 15 min. wait for the outdoor seating. About a half hour went by and I went to the hostess...she apologized saying she made a mistake and it'd be another 15-20 minutes. I understand it's hard to give an exact time, but she was way off. After finally getting seated, our server was fabulous and the food was perfect. I started with their Bloomfield Berries martini and YUM! Beautiful color and tasted so fresh. I then had a cup of their white gazpacho soup - holy YUM! So flavorful and the presentation was beautiful with the chili oil on top. My husband doesn't even like gazpacho and he liked it! For entrees, I had the steak salad. The steak was cooked perfectly at medium and the salad was well prepared with the right amount of dressing (no one likes a soggy salad). For a light(er) dinner, it was perfect. I was happy. My husband had the steak tacos and was also happy with his choice. We would definitely go back and were really happy with our meals, we were just put off by the long wait.

Delicious! Staff is very friendly. Great environment for work, friends, or a date. The food is excellent. You're welcomed at the back of the restaurant to dine next to the glass section of the wall where the kitchen prepares your food or simply stand and watch for a moment. Gluten free? NO PROBLEM! You won't just have the normal salad options or plain meat here. No. There's much more care taken in the dishes they create here.

I have been to Cafe ML on several occasions, but this most recent time "did me in" and I decided ~ I must tell people about this place. Every time I come the food is superb. I haven't had the same thing twice and have enjoyed every single thing! My hands down favorites are the beef carpaccio and brussel sprouts. The beef carpaccio is "deconstructed" and is served with a 4 min egg (I had to ask what that meant: it is boiled for 4 mins and then thrown into freezing water to shock the system. Essentially the white part is cooked and yellow is runny.) and it is the best carpaccio we have ever had, capers are mixed in to the beef. Essentially it's amazing. The brussel sprouts are made in a sirracha lime sauce and are bursting with flavor ~ yes I just said 'bursting with flavor' about a brussel sprouts dish, even my husband enjoyed them and he hates brussel sprouts!! I have also had: the smash guac (fair representation of guac but nothing to write home about); noodles dish (similar to a pad Thai dish, very delicious and enough to split); mussels (have recently changed their recipe for these I think? Either way very good, unique sauce they are served in. Very flavorful but I couldn't put my finger down on what it was ~ more garlic in this dish would make it even better); ML burger (very very good ~ but I'm partial to truffle oil so this burger didn't have a chance to not impress me). Finally, this place is priced right. You can spend as much, or as little, as you want. My husband and I walked out of there most recently for $71. That was ordering the beef carpaccio, mussels, side of brussel sprouts, splitting the ML burger, 1 cocktail for me and 2 beers for him.

Great food, cool atmosphere, but the wait can really kill an evening and they don't take reservations. Priced pretty reasonably for the quality. Would've given 5 if they took reservations. I won't go back because of the wait.

This place was just OK in my opinion. I came with a group of 12 and we were seated against the far left (where the windows open up- like a patio area) and it was absolutely freezing! Then they'd put the heaters on and we'd be sweating lol. Overall area was horrible; I felt like a menopausal lady experience hot flashes. Food: the Brussel sprouts were absolutely UNREAL! Probably the best I've ever eaten anywhere. I had the street noodles that were just OK and the napa salad that was really good. The food came out at very different times which was unfortunate. Some people got their dinners 10-15 mins after others. Food is okay, atmosphere (as long as you're not in the patio) is nice but it's not necessarily somewhere I'd run back to.

Visiting relatives in this area so just happened upon this place. The name is deceiving. It's more than a cafe. I had the Buffalo mozzarella salad which had little balsamic" beads"drizzled on it. Nice presentation and wonderful flavor. Also had the mussels flavored with saffron . .very nice. I'd definitely go back. Great atmosphere as well.

I was really looking forward to checking out Cafe ML, since we are fans of Richards Group establishments. We came on a Sunday night around 6pm, and the place was already pretty packed, especially the patio. Even though it was busy, we managed to get a table for 3 right away. Our table had a nice view of the bar and the main seating area. They divide the space up with some table/bench seating and then high top bench seating; very unique and it balances out the rectangular shape of the restaurant. The general color scheme is slate gray with a baby blue, so it is pleasing and relaxing to the eyes. Glass panels separate the spaces, and keep the floorplan open and airy. Overall, nice decor. If you're used to dining at any of the other Richards Group establishments, Cafe ML will strike you as something different. Still the refined and sophisticated offerings, but the flavors err more on the Asian side. They utilize a lot of ingredients that are prominent in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cuisine, but the application is still modern and contemporary. I like that. Our table went with a mixture of small plates and a few entrees. For the small plates, we chose the Korean Fried Chicken ($8), and the Mussels ($10). For entrees, we chose the fish special of the day, Barramundi ($31) and the ML Burger ($15). Our friend had the Maine Lobster Risotto ($25). I'd have to say that out of all the offerings, the strongest ones were definitely the entrees. The Barramundi was served with spring vegetables and fingerling potatoes, and had a nice smoky flavor with coriander undertones. Though a white fish, the barramundi had great moisture and was seasoned perfectly. The sear on top was done well, which locked in the moisture of the fish as you cut into it. ML Burger was flavorful and moist. The truffle aioli and cheese really made the burger sing, and for the price, the size of the burger was just right. Fries were good too, and though twice fried, not heavy or oily. I had a sample of the lobster risotto and it was a bit on the rich and heavy side for a small bite, but great amount of lobster. Our small plates were pretty disappointing to say the least. The Korean fried chicken contained a measly 3 strips, with nice cucumber slices to offset the gochujang spice. However, for $8 I felt a bit ripped off, and they weren't even that big individually. The mussels were also a disappointment, as they tasted rubbery and not soft and plump. The green matcha, lemongrass, coconut milk sauce sounded great to the eyes, but to the mouth, it just didn't work harmoniously. Portion size was also pretty small for the price. We've had much better and bigger portions for the same price at other places. Service was good, polite, but nothing out of the ordinary. Final bill for everything was $106 (including a stout drink). The prices for entrees were well deserved, but the small plates? Not so much. As much as I'd love to see another new Richards Group restaurant succeed, we probably won't be coming here on regular rotations. BHG still reigns supreme!

My family and I were able to get in here immediately on a Tuesday night at 5:30 after several failed attempts. The place is very small and very popular. I can see why. The food is good. My daughter had the mussels and enjoyed them. My son, the kiddie pasta. Said it was ok. My husband and I shared the brussel sprouts, ceviche, kale salad and fish tacos. Everything was excellent, but the fish tacos were just ok. I'm not a fan of using flour tortillas on fish tacos ever. Number one mistake by restaurants.

My husband and I stopped in last night, a Tuesday, to check out ML. We were impressed by the hip, enticing menu, but were soon put on our guard by the soup of the day, a glutinous, bland cream of chicken, which was ominously suggestive of something that began life as a packaged soup starter mix. I don't believe that it did, but that's what it tasted like. The lobster risotto, touted as a house fave by the delightful, efficient young woman who waited on us, was only O.K. The steak was small, thin, and overpriced, the hand-cut fries, also recommended to us as "amazing," were merely adequate, though the accompanying kale was excellent. We neither asked for bread, nor was it offered. The least expensive cab-by-the-glass was surprisingly good. Were we to venture back, I would like to try the steak salad and the brussels sprouts, both of which have been reviewed enthusiastically here. Not sure that's going to happen, though.

Cafe ML is fantastic! They have a great Gluten Free selection, attentive service, excellent food and I love the decor. I've been twice in two weeks and highly recommend the brussels sprouts.

I had the deviled eggs, tuna poke and buffalo mozzarella. All were excellent with great flavors and seasoning. Love the place! Don't miss the quotations near the ceiling and enjoy a drink on the patio.

Its about time a restaurant group finally decided to go with a fresh healthy approach in the area. Everything on the menu is light, clean, and vibrant. The way the food is prepared is pretty much in its natural state, meaning, they don't douse everything with salt and butter and sauces. The appetizer choices are amazing. The hommous and veggy plate, delicious. The tuna poke on sesame crackers, amazing. The tabbouli with pomegranate seeds and pistachios, perfect. I'am not a huge fan of salmon, because everywhere i go its fishy and oily. ML has perfected the technique of preparing a beautiful piece of fish. It is simply steamed and the flavor and texture is just clean, bright, flaky fish. The best plate of salmon i have ever had..the beans they serve underneath it are amazing as well. The steak salad here is unbelievable. A huge portion of meat and greens to fill you up. Something a dinner entree salad should do if your ordering a salad for dinner! This place is my fav in the area so far. Koudos to the chef for preparing healthy mindful food!

Not impressed with this restaurant. I had waiting since its opening to try it out, but was always put off by the 45-60 minute wait in a cramped foyer. So, when a late evening found an open table, decided to give it a try. My impression? Overpriced...$10 for hard cider??? Really??? The small plates were ridiculously small and too expensive. . Underwhelmed with the food for the price as well Pretentious wait staff who was appalled with my request for bread with my salad. "We don't "do" bread" , he said. The noise level in the room was unpleasantly loud. The decor is trendy but not comfy . And the door to the women's bathroom competes with the wait staff's exit from the kitchen....and the door takes way too long to close. I love Beverly Hills Grill. I'll take a pass on Cafe ML .

So far a disappointment. I had the steak tacos, my friend the fish tacos, and both were bland and boring. I'll try one more time but I'm not in a rush to go back.

Great new food option! Roasted Brussels sprouts are a winner for an appetizer and creative, light, fish entrees. When it's warm the outside seating will help but the bar area is cramped. Can't wait to go back.

As soon as one of my friends sat down and checked the drink menu his soul was crushed. "They have a drink named after him?" Apparently it's some local news anchor. I don't know why a restaurant would name a drink after a local news anchor. And I don't know why my friend knows the names of local news anchors. "We should order one and just dump it on the floor." I assume this local news anchor killed my friend's dog with a hammer and used the beast's skin to make a pair of running shoes. I didn't pry. Instead, I ordered some apps for the table. The Brusselssprouts were among some of the best I've ever had, but pale in comparison to the ones served up at the Selden Standard. I find it absolutely disgusting that I'm at a point in life where my friends and I are discussing the merits of Brusselssprouts. If there is a hell. We all deserve to rot there for being so self-absorbed and small-minded. The other apps were unremarkable -- as was my veggie burger. The veggie burger didn't really hold together, and it kept slipping out of the bun, forcing me to eat the rest of the sloppy mess with a fork. Only intolerable scumbags and old people eat (pseudo) burgers with a fork. And only super-duper assholes complain about it on a food site. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their dishes that ran the gamut from burgers to some pasta offering with shrimp, and a Korean dish that wasn't "really Korean," remarked a Korean-American in our group. This place has a great atmosphere, a great drink menu featuring one drink named after some guy who severely wronged one of my friends, inauthentic Asian food, really good sprouts that will make you realize how empty your life has become, and solid hamburgers. It's everything you'd want from a suburban strip mall restaurant.

We went to Café ML on Monday with my family and my folks joined us. As always, this restaurant was fantastic and boasts an atmosphere that feels alive and energetic. Just a solid restaurant with consistent food and attentive staff.

Guac had good flavor with lots of spring onions with mild kick. The tortilla chips were just ok--unsalted but seemed housemade and crispy so appreciate that. Mahi mahi fish tacos had medium spice and perfectly seasoned and flaky. If i was super picky maybe it was slightly dry, but the fruit salsa fixed that. I wasn't sure about the pickled onions but it totally made the dish special. The wait staff went above and beyond to make it comfortable. They have heated patio seating but on a cold windy, rainy day like today, the vinyl screens blow open. They tried their darndest to fix it for us. Was my first time but would come again.

Amazing food, awesome atmosphere, great view. Hummus plate was delicious, healthy and a work of art. Scallops were very well cooked and it tasted great with the crispy leafy greens. Fish tacos were pretty good. The beans on the side was a bit awkward and out of place since we didn't use it to stuff our tacos. The ricotta cheesecake was divine. Light and delicious. The chocolate hazelnut torte was very dark chocolate, but still creamy and paired with a really delicious vanilla ice cream. Food was absolutely delicious. Leave room for dessert!

Consistent. Consistent. Consistent. The food, service and overall atmosphere is perfect. This is one place that will leave you wanting to visit again. I am giving it a 5 because I never leave feeling sick or questioning the quality of the food or how it was prepared. Truly is a great place!

Aptly named for it's location at Maple and Lahser (and coincidentally having the same initials as two of the matriarchs in his family) this addition to the Roberts' conglomerate is a choice experience that you need to try! It's definitely trendy and a little swanky but well done and unpretentious. At 815 on a Thursday evening our table of 4 had a short 15 minute wait giving us time to order from the bar before we were sat. My Manhattan was fantastic! I think you'll find something to wet your palette here if you're simply coming for cocktails. That said if you've come for the food you'll be pleasantly surprised by the fresh menu options. Once we were sat our server greeted us in a white shirt and tie, and a black apron offering starters. Needing a few minutes to look over the menu a lot of Mexicali and Asian jumps out off the page along with some equally enticing tried and true choices. For starters we tried the guacamole and the hummus which got great reviews on here. They were both FANTASTIC. The veggies that come on the hummus plate were vibrant and beautiful and not your typical crudités, and the tortilla chips that came with the guac were ridiculously addictive. For the entrée I opted for the Lobster Risotto just to see how it compared to 220's (which used to be a Roberts' property). The presentation was clean and precise and the flavors were mind blowing. I would've liked the lobster cooked just a minute longer but it was really great. We had also ordered their Brussels Sprouts and they were better than I've had anywhere else to date. I'm not sure if it was cayenne or Sriracha but the spiciness was the perfect touch to put these over the top. You'll pay a pretty penny to play here but it's definitely a spot worth your time and money. Service is wonderful, the food and drinks were great and the ambiance is smooth and relaxing. It was one of the best dining experiences I've had this year and I'm looking forward to coming back for the Blistered Chicken and the Korean Chicken app.

Had dinner here last night. Went with the Blistered Chicken which came with farro, gala apple, brussel sprout leaves, and a maple syrup based sauce. Had a little kick - lots of black pepper I think. Delicious. $21. Companion had the Singapore Street Noodles with Chicken sans cilantro. Would not get again - just personal taste, nothing wrong. $19. Each had a market salad - Arugula, Spinach, Michigan Apple, Baby Carrot, Grapefruit, Chèvre, candied Pecans, and Vanilla Bean Vinaigrette. I got without the goat cheese. Couldn't taste any vanilla beans, but grapefruit added nice acidity and moisture. Baby carrots were multi-colored and sliced horizontally - almost looked like bacon. Good salad. $8. Service outstanding. Seated right away sometime after 6 pm; when we left around 7 pm, there was a wait.

Food continuously good. I have never had a bad meal here. I love the guacamole, any fish on the specials and the brussel sprouts are amazing. The space is great. I had previously posted about a negative customer service experience (having nothing to do with the food) and promptly heard back from the owner. In my eyes, that's a five star experience!

We've been back. The food has become less exciting. The service gets looser. The waits for a table get longer. The steak salad is still terrific.

3.5 stars if I could. This is a really nice little spot in an out of the way strip mall location. Menu is varied and interesting spanning large/small dishes and multiple cultures. Decent beer, cocktail list and an above average wine selection. We started off with the hummus and interesting baby vegetable assortment. Awesome. I cant imagine coming here again and not getting it. Got the brussles sprouts as well which were done "Roast' style but with the added element of sriracha and lime. Good rendition and addicting as always. Got the flank steak salad for an entree which was vaguely southwest inspired with the avocado, pepitas and cotija. Needed a bit more assertiveness with the flavoring/dressing but loved the addition of the blistered tomatoes. Had a downright delicious chocolate peanut butter torte for dessert. Best sweet thing I've had in awhile. Service was professional if a bit slow at times once the crowd picked up. All told, this is definite 4 star material. I'll be back to try a few other options..
